3 Ways CBD Can Improve Your Sex Life

Updated: Mar 19, 2019

Let’s talk about sex, baby! Let’s talk about C-B-D! Let’s talk about all the good things and all the even better things this wonder-extract can do for you and your sex life.

CBD (short for cannabidiol) is the non-psychoactive component of industrial hemp. In other words, you reap the benefits of CBD without getting high. It's one of the most popular natural remedies on the market today, and with good reason.

CBD is used to treat many common problems that arise from our “always on” lifestyles. It's excellent for remedying anxiety, depression, and insomnia, and is incredibly popular in the sexual wellness realm.

Whether solo or partnered, your sexual health is an important factor in feeling happy and satisfied. Orgasms have been shown to play a major role in bonding between couples. It can also lower blood pressure and strengthen the immune system. But what if you feel like there's room for improvement?

That's where CBD comes in. In a survey of over 1,000 people, 68 percent of those who had tried CBD for sexual purposes reported an improvement in their sexual experience, and others reported feelings of relaxation and an improved mood.

Whether you use tinctures and oils under your tongue, edible gummies, or CBD-infused lubricants, there's a conduit and benefit for almost everyone.

1. Have Better Orgasms

CBD lubricants are widely available on the market and are available in all 50 states and some foreign countries, depending on the types you choose. They're a great way to enhance the female climactic experience and increase sensation and blood flow to the genitals and clitoris.

I've personally dealt with many of the most common issues women face in the bedroom– pressure to climax during foreplay and intercourse, racing thoughts, lack of sensation, and even a year of anorgasmia after giving birth to my daughter.

Since using the CBD-infused Pleasure Gel lubricant, my orgasms have happened more quickly and have been stronger than in the past. Rather than spend an hour trying to climax, sometimes to no avail, I’m usually orgasming in under 20 minutes.

Using CBD allows me to focus on the moment because I'm actually experiencing pleasure. To save on product and enhance the lubrication, I normally mix the Pleasure Gel with my usual water-based lube, found here.

Use it for partnered or solo play. The Pleasure Gel works well with toys and vibrators and has never left a sticky or unpleasant residue. It can be used externally, on the inner and outer labia, in the vagina, on the clitoris, and essentially anywhere in that region. There's no odor and it won't get you high.

2. Ease Performance Anxiety

Many of the most common (and totally normal) sexual dysfunctions people face are related to anxiety, overexcitement, and nervousness. Issues like premature ejaculation, erectile dysfunction, vaginal dryness, and numbness have the potential to be treated and helped through the use of CBD.

We’ve already learned that CBD can help ease the mind and relax the body. The same concept transfers to the act of having sex and overcoming performance anxieties.

Try incorporating CBD into your sexual routine before engaging in intercourse. Use it during foreplay with your partner. Feed each other edible gummies infused with CBD, like these bears with 15mg of CBD each. Drop the liquid from a CBD tincture on each others’ bodies and lick it off, like this 600mg peppermint-flavored formula with 10mg of CBD per serving.

Another option is to use the same Pleasure Gel lubricant that I mentioned above and apply it to your and your partner’s genitals. This works for both men and women and can help to increase pleasure and sensation for both parties.

Guys may wish to try the Max Chill Shot with 75mg of CBD. This can be a multi-dose item or one-time use. Just be sure not to overdo the amount of CBD you take, or it may cause you to be too relaxed to perform.

3. Reduce Pain

Another issue that may arise in the bedroom is pain during sex. This most commonly affects women. It may be from a lack of lubrication, which is sometimes the result of not being turned on enough, the absence of foreplay, or hormone-related causes, but it can also be from other sources, like endometriosis, menstrual cramps, and dyspareunia, to name a few.

If you’ve already seen a doctor regarding the pain you experience during sex and would like options for treating pain during intercourse at home, then CBD is an excellent avenue to try.

CBD is known to be an effective pain reliever. It’s even more potent when mixed with a bit of THC (“The High Causer” or the psychoactive compound), but is not always available or legal in every area.

Fortunately, you may still be able to benefit from pain relief during sex using hemp-derived CBD alone. Starting low and gradually increasing your CBD dose will let you figure out what works best without impairment (usually sleepiness and fatigue).

Start with this 300mg CBD tincture that has 5mg of CBD per serving. You can also plan ahead and apply the CBD Pain Freeze to your abdomen (never genitals) for pain relief prior to sex.
